Did you know you can print from a Windows computer using the same methods as on a Macintosh? All you need to do is add a printer and configure it to use the LPR protocol to send your print jobs to the queue - using the instructions below. Note: The following instructions are based on Windows XP Professional and may vary slightly based on Operating System.
To begin, ensure that you have LPR printing capabilities installed:
After you have completed the above, you can begin to set up the printer itself:
Select the Start button in the lower left and browse to the
Right Click on the Printers and Faxes folder and select
Click Next and then select Local printer attached to this computer
Click Next and then select Create a new port
Scroll down to LPR port
Click
For the 'Name or address of server providing LPD', enter the Printer IP in the table below
For the 'Name of printer or print queue on that server' enter the Queue Name
Click
Depending on which device (Model - see table below) you wish to use, you may need to install its specific print driver. To begin installing the driver, download the corresponding device driver to your hard drive (C:) desktop.
For all Black and White Queues:
Install an HP LaserJet 4 Driver which is pre-installed on Windows XP
For all Color Queues, install the appropriate driver (see list below):
Lexmark Universal (Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003): Click Here (5.34 MB)
Lexmark Universal (Windows Vista): Click Here (20.39MB)
E710 Fiery Print Server, please visit the Ricoh Website Download Page
Once the driver has been downloaded, select
For any Lexmark device, select
If you are adding a color queue, you must add the color printing feature after you install the queue. Go into printer 'Properties' > 'Installed Options' and add 'Color Printing'.
You will then be prompted to name this printer. We recommend using the actual Queue Name so as to prevent confusion, but you may name it whatever you wish.
And lastly, we finish the installation. Use the default values for the rest of the prompts, unless you need to enable special features or wish to make sure that everything is working correctly by printing a test page.
IMPORTANT: With the upgrade to Pharos Uniprint 8.0, our queues are no longer categorized by building name. They are now based on which server they reside on. For a full listing of which locations are covered by which server, please see below.
